Katelyn's Story
REGISTERED PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST
Hi there! I’m Katelyn, my pronouns are she/her, and I am a Registered Provisional Psychologist here in Alberta. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted a job where I could support others in a meaningful way. When personal experiences with grief and loss and mental health challenges during my undergrad led me to seek out my own support, I quickly realized how powerful and deeply supportive the therapeutic relationship can be. This led me to pursue my own career as a counselling psychologist.
My work focuses on supporting clients aged 16 and older as they navigate grief and loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, and supporting emotional regulation. My practice is also supportive for folks who are part of the LGBTQ2S+ community, and those who are exploring their gender identity and sexual orientation. Additionally, I am passionate about working with individuals and partners who have experienced pregnancy loss, birth trauma, fertility struggles, health complications such as endometriosis, and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. To support this work, I draw on several different approaches based on your unique needs, primarily Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Polyvagal and Attachment Theory, somatic-based practices, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).

Therapeutic Philosophy
I know firsthand that finding a therapist and deciding to jump into therapy can be very difficult and vulnerable, but I’m so glad that you’re here. In my sessions, my goal is to create a space that feels safe enough for you to show up as your true self, feeling seen, heard, and supported. I truly believe that you are the expert in your own life and that my role is to walk beside you as you discover ways to nurture your inherent strengths and capacity for healing, learning, and growth.
Educational Background
Professional Membership
Katelyn is a member in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists since 2025 and the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta since 2021.
Master of Counselling
Katelyn graduated from City University of Seattle in 2024 with a Master of Counselling degree. Her capstone research focused on understanding how experiences of grief are impacted by ambiguous loss when a loved one goes missing. This work sparked her passion for supporting individuals who are experiencing grief and loss and provided a unique understanding of how to support those who feel that their grief has been misunderstood, minimized, or dismissed.
During her counselling internship at MacEwan University Wellness and Psychological Services, Katelyn provided support for university students experiencing mental health difficulties. She was also a teaching assistant for the Introduction to Counselling Psychology course.
Graduate Diploma in Psychological Assessment
Katelyn completed her Graduate Diploma in Psychological Assessment from Concordia University in Edmonton in 2021, where she developed skills in test administration and interpretation of intellectual, personality, and forensic assessments. During this time, she worked as a psychometrist in private practice, administering neuropsychological, psychological, and parenting assessments.
Bachelor of Science with Specialization in Psychology
Katelyn graduated from the University of Alberta in 2018. During this time, she conducted two independent research projects in behavioural psychology and volunteered with the Healthy Campus Unit to support student mental health on campus.
