Chelsea's Story

Mental Health Therapist

Helping people and making an impact in the world through spreading kind connection and engaging with empathy is my purpose. I have felt the call to sit with others as they navigate the complex and difficult seasons of their lives since I was a teen witnessing family members on their own journey in becoming mentally well, and I am honoured to have the opportunity to walk with others on these journeys to heal and help folks to create meaningful change.

My desire to work with those experiencing grief and loss comes largely in part from the sudden death of my cousin due to a motor vehicle accident on July 5, 2019, as well as many other significant losses occurring within this time period, causing compounded grief and trauma. In navigating these losses, I recognised the deeply healing impact of sitting with others, being genuinely heard and seen, and allowing them to support me. This motivated me to find a path toward doing this meaningful work with others.

When I am away from the office, I enjoy teaching, yoga, spending time in nature with my golden retriever, Ziggy, and connecting with friends and family.

Mental Health Experience

Teaching has taught Chelsea the importance of working with a team to provide mental health intervention to those in need, as well as the importance of kindness, openness, and connection to the healing process. Her ability to connect with, understand, and unconditionally accept others, as they work together to heal and create change, will be deeply impactful for the clients she serves. Chelsea’s warmth, kindness, authenticity, and genuinely empathetic nature is evident in her caring, client-centred, and collaborative approach in connecting with others. She knows her clients are the expert in their lives and in telling their stories; through active listening and collaboration, she aims to centre them, their needs, and their goals in the therapeutic process.

Chelsea is passionate about helping people understand unconscious inner conflicts and unhealed elements enacting influence on their life, exemplified in harmful patterns of
behaviour, thought, feeling, and relation. She aims to raise awareness to these as well as societal elements which add pressure and create conflict in many areas of our lives, through using a psychodynamic approach and other modalities specific to client need and preference.

Chelsea is passionate about helping others and learning new ways to do so. She is eager to continue working towards becoming a Registered Psychologist in Alberta.
