Emma's Story
Master of Counselling Student Intern
My journey into the field of counselling began when I was thirteen and started experiencing anxiety and depression. At the time, I didn’t understand what I was going through — until I met with my own counsellor. Through counselling, I gained clarity about my experiences and began to learn what anxiety and depression were. That initial introduction to mental health sparked a lifelong passion for understanding mental health and how we cope with life’s challenges.
Having navigated my own mental health challenges throughout my life, my counsellors played a vital role in helping me through difficult times. Those experiences deepened my belief in the benefits of counselling and how transformative it can be. My healing journey taught me the value of self-compassion, authenticity, and having a safe space to explore emotions without judgment — values I will bring into my work with clients.
After being diagnosed with ADHD, my interest in neurodiversity grew. This curiosity was further solidified through my work under a psychologist specializing in ADHD and autism assessments. That experience affirmed my passion for working with neurodiverse individuals, a population I not only understand professionally but also relate to personally.
As a therapist, I am committed to providing a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment where you can explore your identity, experiences, and challenges. My approach is tailored to honour your individuality and your unique perception of the world. Together, we can foster resilience, self-compassion, and personal growth.
