Brooke Boehner

Master of Counselling Student Intern

Welcome! I am a Master of Counselling student intern currently completing my practicum at Heartland Psychology.  I'm a student who values the complexity of each individual’s experience and am committed to building warm, respectful, and meaningful relationships.

I strive to create a space where individuals feel safe, understood, and genuinely supported as they explore their experiences, challenges, and strengths, and I recognize the courage this can take. I take a holistic and culturally mindful approach, recognizing the many influences that shape each person’s experiences, while supporting clients in feeling more empowered.

My passion for this work is shaped by both academic training and personal experiences that have deepened my understanding of the importance of compassion, connection, and feeling truly seen.

Outside of the therapy space, I enjoy spending time with my border collie, as well as colouring, ongoing learning, and unwinding with a good Netflix series.

Therapeutic Philosophy

My approach to therapy is integrative, grounded in empathy, authenticity, curiosity, and connection. I view therapy as a collaborative process where change develops through a compassionate and grounding relationship that promotes insight and moves toward meaningful change.

I utilize a person-centered approach to therapy, drawing from CBT, ACT, Narrative Therapy, and parts work, integrating these approaches flexibly to meet each client’s needs. My work is informed by a holistic lens, recognizing the connection between mind, body, and lived experience.

I am currently supervised by Registered Psychologists at Heartland Psychology and offer low cost therapy to teens and adults in-person or online.
