Catherine Yum, M.Ed
REGISTERED PROVISIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST
My passion for anti-oppressive and trauma-informed care is shaped by years of experienceworking with survivors of sexual violence. Through this work, I have been in awe of how whenimmense resilience is met with support, healing is possible. I believe in building a culture ofconsent both within and outside of the counselling space, and will always look for ways toprovide choice to clients that empowers them in writing their own stories.
My journey inexploring my own identity, including being a mixed-race woman, has taught me to witnessclients in their own unique contexts and acknowledge how power and oppression interact intheir lives. Sometimes therapy can seem sterile or intimidating, when it can really be a spacethat welcomes all times of emotions and lived experiences.
To work alongside clients throughchallenging things is a great privilege and I believe that a non-judgemental and collaborativespace allows us to build safety to explore change. I work, live, and play as a settler on Treaty 6Territory and enjoy spending my time sharing food with people I love, trying new crafts, andreading.

Therapeutic Philosophy
My therapeutic approach is centered on curiosity, transparency, and humour. I draw from SFBT, ACT, CBT, parts work, self-compassion, and somatic approaches to make therapy feel most supportive to you. My work is informed by a feminist, anti-oppressive, and strengths-based lens. In therapy with me, you can expect that I will trust you as the expert of your own story and goals. Together, we can focus on building sustainable and meaningful relationships with yourself and the world around you.
