Cassie's Story

Pronouns: She/Her

MASTER OF STUDENT COUNSELLING INTERN

While I didn’t always know what career path I would choose, my own experiences struggling with my mental health as a teen, and later working at a sexual assault centre, highlighted for me just how transformative it can be to be met with non-judgment and radical acceptance of who we are and where we are at. These experiences are what ignited my passion for mental health and led me to pursue a career in counselling. Now, as I begin this chapter in my career, I hope to model those same values of non-judgment and radical acceptance in my work as a therapist.

Rooted in a trauma-informed, client-centred lens, I’m committed to providing a non-judgmental, safe, gentle, and curious space where we can work together towards a deeper sense of self-understanding. I approach therapy with the understanding that we are all whole and complex beings with a lifetime of unique experiences that impact our thoughts, feelings, and actions in ways that are both within and outside our awareness. To support change, I draw from various therapies and interventions, including psychodynamic, narrative, and acceptance and commitment therapy, as well as cognitive-behavioural, mindfulness-based, and creative arts interventions. By drawing from these approaches, I aim to collaboratively build a personalized and effective treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and goals.

Sometimes, being a person is hard, and I’m a firm believer that we’re all just doing our best with what we have and know. Whether it be navigating life changes, challenging emotions, trauma, oppressive systems, relational concerns, or anything else, you don’t have to face it alone.
